Thanks Rhi! It is a lone pine in a palmetto prairie--one of the richest environments in Florida and also one of the fastest disappearing. Behind the prairie is a Cypress dome and then behind that Blackwater Creek, a tributary of the Hillsborough River.
We saw eastern bluebirds and scrub jays, both of which are uncommon in Hillsborough County (Tampa) but somewhat common in other parts of the state. There were also several migratory warblers making their way through. I couldn't tell if they were early birds heading north or stragglers still making their way south. This year I have not seen any robins, which is a shame. They are northern visitors that I am happy to see.
amazing.
